Pre-Nursing Program (First-year students only)

We understand that many students who are interested in studying Nursing may not have all of the qualifications required for Direct Entry into our Nursing program. For these Freshman students, a pre-Nursing designation within the BA program in Health Sciences major will provide the foundational courses needed for nursing school. These courses include general education courses in introductory biology, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and chemistry, as well as courses in psychology and other relevant fields.

Pre-Nursing students should also prepare for the HESI A2 test. The HESI A2 is a standardized, proctored entrance exam used by nursing programs to assess applicants' academic readiness, typically covering areas like math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and biology. A quick search online will provide additional information, practice test, and study plans for the HESI A2. This exam can be taken at the ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ Testing Center and should be completed no later than April 1st for the following nursing cohort. A 78% or higher is required for admission into the nursing program at ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ. A student can take the HESI A2 more than one time.

After the first year in pre-Nursing if a student has completed the required courses with minimum grade of C, earned a GPA of 2.75 or higher, and a HESI 2 test score of 78% or higher, they will be considered for acceptance into ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ’s BS Nursing program. We encourage you to learn more about the undergraduate admission requirements.
